Research Report--China Lithium Battery Cathode Materials Industry According to GGII, the market size of cathode materials in China will exceed 20 billion yuan in 2016, up by over 50 percent year on year. Lithium iron phosphate substantial growth is mainly driven by power batteries and energy storage areas. Ternary material production this year is expected to reach 55,000 tons, mainly driven by the growth of new energy passenger cars, lithium battery bicycles, low-end digital areas. Lithium manganate is expected to ship out 15,000 tons whole year, lithium cobalt oxide shipments is grow more 5 percent than the expected of last year, shipments will exceed 32,000 tons. From the current point of view, lithium iron phosphate and ternary material shipments become the fastest growing cathode material, the growth rate is more than 50%, driven mainly by the power battery. From the terminal application point of view, China's new energy commercial vehicles are based on lithium iron phosphate, accounting for more than 95%, while more than 68% of passenger cars using ternary materials. Lithium cobalt oxide production increased for several reasons: 1) high-speed digital battery-made to accelerate the decline in battery imports, the previous use of imported batteries Huawei, Xiaomi, etc., has made extensive use of domestic batteries; 2) overseas mobile phones, flat panel and other 3C digital battery, using the number of domestic batteries increased, such as Samsung, Sony, Apple and so on. 3) China's exports of lithium cobalt oxide materials increased, China has become the world's largest producer of lithium cobalt oxide, the domestic leading enterprises heavy volume surge, such as Bamo, Xiamen tungsten.
