Different Stacking Processes for Prismatic Cell
The prismatic cell winding process is relatively simple and has a high production efficiency. Multiple monolithic pole groups are combined in parallel in the battery shell, and the arrangement of the pole groups is arranged in the thickness direction. However, the winding technology is applied to square batteries with large defects, such as low space utilization, easy denaturation of cells, uneven current distribution and large polarization.

The battery pack is made of multi-layer positive and negative electrode sheets stacked in parallel, which can avoid the deformation of the pack in the winding design; reduce the ohmic polarization and dense polarization of the battery, and improve the charge/discharge multiplier performance. Under the same conditions, the stacking process can increase the energy density of the battery by 5%, increase the cycle life by 10%, and reduce the cost by 5%. Therefore, the trend of large modules and large cells, the stacked sheet is more advantageous than winding. However, the stacked sheet process has low production efficiency, high technical and investment threshold, stacked sheet technology has not been applied to the square battery field on a large scale.
